There’s a video studio in your pocket. We’ll teach you how to use it. From video strategy and production to the digital tools and tricks of the trade to help you do it.
It’s time to finally bring your video idea to life. This class will teach you how to create professional videos using your phone, simple equipment, and video production apps. This four-part class, taught by two digital marketing professionals, will get you up to speed on what it takes to produce professional videos on your phone.
We’ll focus primarily on Apple products, but much of the material is applicable to those using non-Apple products.

Facilitator Spotlight:
Laura Oxler has been a member of She Says for five years, including some time on the Leadership Committee. She is a Content Producer and Marketing Analyst at Room 214, a digital marketing agency in Boulder. As a natural problem solver, her bread and butter is effective visual storytelling, no matter the budget.
The past 5 years she has been integral in developing the content process at Room 214. She’s helped countless brands tell their stories on digital and social in a variety of visual mediums.

Brian Bishop has over 15 years of marketing & video experience, with skills in brand development, social media, content marketing, video content, experiential and digital advertising.
His work has spanned large international companies and local startups, including non-profits. Bishop excels at developing creative marketing solutions, no matter the size of the budget or the team.
Learning effective methods of producing quality video content with his mobile phone has been a passion of his for the last 5 years. Brian currently runs a content marketing consultancy called Real Original.

For 15 years, Boulder Digital Arts (BDA) has been a community-powered resource for people who create things. Whether you work in film, photography, design, technology or business, we seek to empower your creative process with membership, education, events and collaboration.
Learn where to begin. What gear you’ll need besides your phone, our app and tool recommendations and the importance of a creative brief.
Homework: Check out the apps we demonstrated in class and choose the one you want to try for this project. Fill out the creative brief. We will be reviewing this in class 2.
It’s time to hit record! Develop your story and script. Learn filming best practices with your phone, whether it’s a bare-bones shoot with phone footage and editing app or a cinematic video shot on an automatic stabilizer.
Homework: Tighten up your script. Start shooting! We will be editing footage you shoot in class 3.
You have some footage, now what? Learn video editing tips and tricks, the best resources for music, graphics and voiceover, and best practices for exporting your video.
Homework: Think about how you want to distribute your video.
Learn the most effective channels to distribute, how to cut down and repurpose your video and how to measure success.
