Kerri Shea Beers is the director of marketing at Techstars where she is responsible for the lead gen strategy. She’s been in high tech for over 20 years, working for startups including Webroot and Rally Software, as well as several years as owner of her own marketing firm where her clients ranged from large corporations such as Dell to fast-growing startups including SolidFire and SendGrid.
She has survived the comedy of corporate America, the insanity of having three kids in 17 months, and the absurdity and joy at the intersection of it all. She lives in Louisville, Colorado with her three highly spirited middle-schoolers and wildly talented musician husband. You can find her on LinkedIn.
We asked Kerri a few questions…
Name a book or blog that changed your life?
Many Lives, Many Masters. It’s about your soul and past lives, so might seem a bit wacky if you’re not into that. But the author is credible and legit. It changed my life because it took away my fear of death. No small feat for us humans.
In 5 words or less, describe what has been most important to your success in your career?
I like to win.
What are you working on now? OR.. What are you most proud of in your accomplishments so far.
I am most proud of the fact that, at Techstars, I get to meet amazing entrepreneurs who are doing really big things. Like that time I went to prison with Defy Ventures…a profound, life-changing experience. Hit me up if you want to go to prison.
If you could give your 20-year-old self-advice, what would it be?
Stop doing upside down keg stands and volunteer in your community or go join a campus group of people that are different from you. Embrace differences. (Learning this took me way too long.)
